The major components of titanium concentrate include titanium oxide, iron oxide, ferrous oxide, trace elements of phosphorus, sulfur, magnesium, and calcium. It is usually powdery, black, with a size of 200 mesh or less.

The approximate world reserves of titanium concentrates are 700 million tons, while China's reserves stand approximately at 200 million tons, approaching about 28.57% of the world's total reserves. Many years ago, China has been on top among the other countries. The reserving area includes Panzhihua, where it occupies the largest reserves accounting for 48% of the nation, whereas Yunnan comes in second place with 20%. The considerable price of titanium concentrate is the reason for a high price of titanium slag, which catalyzes an increase in titanium concentrate prices.

Titanium concentrate differs from high-titanium slag or titanium dioxide in that it is miserably particular about its application field: aerospace, shipbuilding, military, metallurgy, chemical industry, machinery, power projects, desalination, environmental protection-all the way to medicine. High-strong titanium alloys will satisfy turbine engine components or missile-rocket nozzles.
